Devoted Update

An update about Devoted.

Jeremy spoke at our recent Prayer Day in October 2021 about some of the things we feel stirred about in this new season we are entering, with particular reference to Devoted.

As a team we gathered in August to discuss and pray, asking God to guide us in our plans for 2022 and the years ahead, especially in regard to Devoted. In the video below, Jeremy shares the full story of how we feel God is very clearly leading us through the prophetic both before, during and after this meeting.

In summary, Devoted is a fantastic event, gathering our family of churches for wonderful times of worship, fellowship and teaching. This sort of event clearly fulfils our distinctive of Being Friends, Enjoying God together.

However, there is a sense that putting on a large scale event of this sort in this current season, would draw life and vibrancy away from our churches, at a time when we feel prophetically that we should be freshly supporting, invigorating and encouraging our churches both individually and in regions.

We’re not saying that a large scale Devoted Festival will not occur again in the future but at least for this season, God is calling us to lay down the large and to invest in the small, the simple and the fluid. This means that Devoted 2022 will not be happening.

What's next?

However, as a team we want to have three expressions of what we did at Devoted which will take place over the next 18 months. Devoted itself isn’t ‘dead’ it’s just not a big event that’s happening at a showground.

Devoted Leaders

One of the reasons ChristCentral exists is to raise up leaders; men and women who can bring leadership in the context God has given them. This may be in the local church, in business, or trans-locally serving our wider family of churches. To do this we know it’s vital to gather leaders for extended times of being in God’s presence, where there is space for worship, the prophetic and teaching & training. Therefore, we are planning to host a ‘Devoted Leaders Conference’ in June 2022, taking place for three days mid-week. This will be hosted in one of our larger church buildings. It won’t be a big event to put on, but we hope it will be easy to get to and provide a setting where God can speak, shape and re-arrange us as a family of churches. We expect that this event will also be something which people who can’t travel or who are based outside the UK can access online in some format as well.

Devoted Local

As an apostolic team we want to spend time serving our local churches up and down the UK. Our aim is to gather with regions of churches who are already working together, supporting one another and encouraging leaders and churches to fulfil the vision God has given them. Seeing our local churches strengthened and new churches planted is part of our DNA. Our heart isn’t to just put on big conferences or events. We’re passionate about the mission of the local church and we care about growing leaders, healthy families and strengthening local churches.

Devoted Families

The ChristCentral team are also passionate about providing contexts where children and young people can spend time in the presence of God, hear relevant teaching and are inspired by apostolic mission. We are currently praying and asking God to show us how we can provide a context for younger children to gather with their families and be equipped and filled with the Holy Spirit and be caught up in the worldwide mission of the people of God.

Meanwhile, we’re so glad to be able to confirm that Newday (the Newfrontiers youth event for teenagers) will be taking place once again in summer 2022 (01-05 AUGUST 2022). You can find out more about Newday on their website: newdaygeneration.org.

An In-Between Time

God has been speaking to us about being in an "in-between" time. He has called us in this in-between phase to pause, not rush ahead, but as a caterpillar goes into a cocooned state to become a butterfly, God is calling us to wait, to stop and to listen. Our DNA will remain the same but we are expectant that we are going to be re-shaped and reformed.
